WHO WE ARE
Creative spaces for smiley faces
Community Workshop is a safe, creative environment for supported adults. We provide art workshops, recording, theatre with drama and movement, sewing and set design, print and graphics and projects such as the construction of a traditional gypsy caravan. Community Workshop is a social enterprise based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. The service operates on weekdays 9am to 4pm. Our day rate is £75.89+VAT.
Our unique offer has developed over 6 years. Service users are placed at the core of everything we do. We work collaboratively with our service users to ensure we have a safe, enjoyable and developmental based service which is fully inclusive.
Why We Are
Putting the care back into care services
In 2015 Andrew Akehurst identified a need for more indoor experiences in the West of Suffolk for our cohort of adults. Andrew founded Community Workshop locally in Bury St Edmunds to meet this clear identified need.
Originally Community Workshop provided creative work opportunities, over time and in direct collaboration with our service users we have evolved and now offer more opportunities for our cohort. As a social enterprise, Community Workshop strives to put ‘care’ back into ‘care services’.
In collaboration with our service users and always responding to their needs, we measure our service user’s improved health, wellbeing and levels of happiness to evidence the social impact our services offer.
